It's a Crowd...
(October 5, 2004) -
Almost 470 people have registered for the Conference, making it
the best attended of the four World Conferences of Science Journalists
held to date.
Half of them are guests of the Conference or its
sponsors, including journalists and other exports from 56 countries,
also making this the most international of the four.
Other participants include 59 members of the Association
des communicateurs scientifiques du Québec and 60 of the
Canadian Science Writers Association, including 12 students.
Approximately 40% of registrants are women.
After the 294 Canadians, the largest delegation
is from the United States with 40 registrants, followed far behind
by France (12), the United Kingdom (9), India (5) and Japan (5).
Aside from panellists and guests, slightly over
half the participants from Québec are journalists; the
others are public relationists, consultants, government officials,
teachers and students.
