Canadian Science Makes Headlines
(October 6, 2004) -
At a news conference yesterday at noon, Ron Clowes, geophysicist
with the University of British Columbia and director of the Lithoprobe
project, released a few findings of the research done by his team.
The project, a study of the evolution of our continent from its
origins and the fascinating processes involved, ranks among the
most ambitious in the earth sciences sector. In addition to seeing
a 3-D representation of Canada's geological base, those on hand
learned about some of the concrete applications of studying the
geological characteristics of Canada's regions and gained a better
understanding of the dangers associated with West Coast earthquakes.
