Get your Science Journalism News

(October 7, 2004) - Aside from news about the associations themselves, a few publications provide information that non-members can use or that shed light on hot issues in the realm of science communication. They include :

SEJournal
The newsletter of the American Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ). Contains analyses full of tips for successful reporting. A goldmine of ideas for reporters. Quarterly, by subscription.
http://www.sej.org/pub/index.htm

Science Writers
The newsletter of the U.S. National Association of Science Writers (NASW). Quarterly, 32 pages. Includes analyses of recent scientific reports. For members only.
http://nasw.org/

Science Link
Newsletter of the Canadian Science Writers’ Association (CSWA). News about science in Canada and science journalism. Quarterly, free access.
http://www.sciencewriters.ca

L'Omniscient
Newsletter of the Association des communicateurs scientifiques du Québec. Quarterly, free access.
http://www.acs.qc.ca

Yet to keep up with the issues, schedules or scholarship programs, the best sources are now news groups or mailing lists : the NASW and SEJ ones are particularly resourceful.
